Bio

Captivating and charming, Jessica Kung is a vocalist of the highest degree, versatile in an array of genres ranging from Jazz to Latin, to Pop and Soul and R’n'B. Whether fronting a large band or performing in an intimate duo Jessica brings a unique energy and charisma along with total commitment to all her performances.

Jessica’s musical journey began at the tender age of six, when her mother encouraged her to take classical piano lessons and her participation in the AMEB examinations for classical piano. By the age of eight, it was evident that Jessica’s passion for music did not lie with playing the piano, rather she much preferred to sing; consequently her formal vocal training began and continued throughout high school with her participation in the ANZCA examinations for contemporary singing. During her HSC year, Jessica studied vocal technique and approach with Bob Tasman-Smith. In 2002, Jessica studied under the guidance of Edoardo Santoni (The Velvet Fog) and Didi Mudigdo (CinCin, TUFA) after meeting both teachers whilst attending the Singers Jazz Access Course at Sydney Conservatorium of Music.

The year 2007 saw Jessica graduate from the Australian Institute of Music with a Bachelor of Music (Hons) majoring in contemporary performance. During her time at AIM, Jessica studied under the guidance of many influential teachers such as Sean Coffin, Greg Coffin, Tracy Costa, David MacRae, David McLeod and Donna Campbell.

It was also in the same year that Jessica joined the jazz – gospel vocal ensemble, Jubilation, led by Joy Yates and David MacRae, where she participated in several charity events with the group. As one of the featured groups at the Carols in the Domain 2007, Jubilation has backed artists such as David Hobson, Doug Parkinson, Australian Idol’s Paulini and Ricki – Lee.

Over the years Jessica has performed in venues such as the Basement, the Vanguard, Candy’s Appartment, Brass Monkey, and Café Twelve, outdoor events held at the Olympic stadium and Cronulla beach and been involved with corporate events with David Jones Pty Ltd, as well as various weddings and functions. Regardless of the occasion, Jessica would be delighted to tailor her band to your needs and to make your event unforgettable.
